According to Down Detector, the problems started around 06:45 BST and are affecting customers across the UK.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, 83 percent of those who experienced problems said they had problems with their emails.

Meanwhile, 11 percent said they had problems with wired internet, while seven percent had a total blackout.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of an issue affecting our Virgin Media customer email service.

And one vented, “I can’t access my virgin media email account. Need it urgently for work and personal matters. Has the system failed? If so, when will it be back online?’
