A Virgin Atlantic flight with more than 250 passengers traveling from London to Los Angeles was forced to divert to Canada after a technical problem with the engine.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed at Goose Bay Airport, a Canadian Forces Base in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay community.

It was diverted as a precaution after the engine failure was discovered.

A concerned Twitter user asked the plane for a status on flight VS141.

Virgin Atlantic replied: ‘All affected passengers have been advised of their re-protection options and can also be viewed when they log into ‘My Booking’ on our website.’

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner took off from Heathrow Airport in London and was forced to land at Goose Bay Airport, a Canadian Forces Base in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay community

The user asked if they landed in Canada, to which the company confirmed, “We can confirm that the VS141 landed at Canada’s Goose Bay Airport.”

A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson told DailyMail.com: “As a precautionary measure, US141 from London Heathrow to Los Angeles has been diverted to Canada’s Goose Bay due to a technical issue.

“The safety and security of our customers and crew always remains our top priority and has not been compromised at any time.

“We will send a recovery flight to collect all customers from Goose Bay, which will transport them to New York JFK, where customers will receive accommodations and assist our teams with their onward journey to Los Angeles. We would like to sincerely apologize for the delay and any inconvenience caused.’

The plane was diverted to Canada as a precaution after an engine failure was discovered.
