Pack your bags! Virgin Australia launches huge sale of 500,000 seats with discounted airfares as low as $55
- Half a million discounted fares up for grabs until February 6
- Byron Bay, Fiji, Samoa and Bali among the destinations
- The airline reported record growth in business travelers
One of Australia’s largest airlines has slashed fares to some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, both at home and abroad, as Australians return to holidaying in record numbers.
The airline discounted half a million seats on domestic and international routes on Monday as part of Virgin Australia’s epic Bring on 2023 sale.
Prices start from $55 each way in both directions between Sydney and Byron Bay (Ballina) in the far north of New South Wales.
Socialites looking for a discount foreign getaway are also in luck with several round-trip airfares under $500.
The launch of Monday’s sale comes as Virgin Australia reported record growth in business travelers, as bookings topped 110 per cent of pre-Covid levels.

Sydneysiders can also escape to the Sunshine Coast for as little as $75, the Gold Coast for $89, Melbourne for $95 or as far north as Cairns for just $125.
Other routes with special offers include Adelaide-Launceston ($85), Brisbane-Whitsundays ($85), while Adelaide-Melbourne and Melbourne-Hobart start from $89 each way.
Travelers looking to dust off their passport can score a Fiji getaway from Sydney for as low as $459 roundtrip, while a flight across Tasman to Queenstown starts from $559.
Members of Australia’s socialite will also take advantage of discounted Bali fares from as little as $489 from the Gold Coast.
Other discounted international fares include Melbourne-Vanuatu ($539) Brisbane-Samoa ($549) or Cairns-Tokyo ($699).

‘January is a month synonymous with planning for the coming year – looking for holiday opportunities, business trips, connecting with family and friends or exploring a new part of the country – we have many great fares on offer no matter what you’re traveling for. , and we encourage Australians to participate before they sell out,” said Dave Emerson, Virgin Australia Group Chief Commercial Officer.
Sale ends at midnight on February 6 unless sold out sooner.
The trip is available on select dates from March 1 to December 7.
All fares on sale include Velocity frequent flyer points and status credits, while Velocity members can earn double status credits across the Virgin Australia network until February 10.

The airline is also offering incentives to new business travelers who switch loyalty and join Virgin Australia’s business traveler program before March 31.
Those who meet eligible flight expenses within the first 90 days of joining will receive 150,000 bonus Velocity Points for their business, equal to up to 30 business class upgrades or up to 19 economy Reward Seats one-way.

“Since we launched the Virgin Australia Business Flyer loyalty program last year, we have received an overwhelming response from businesses joining the programme, and we look forward to seeing the program expand further this year.”
The sale comes as the first flight for Australia’s newest airline, Bonza, is due to take off on Tuesday.
