Shoppers are going to get their hands on Dyson hairdryers, Apple AirPods, flights and Smeg gadgets for ‘barely nothing’ at Australia’s ‘cheapest store’ – and there’s no catch
- Virgin opens its first-ever 1 Point Reward store
- Opens on Saturday 10 June before 24 hours
- Shoppers can purchase luxury items for one Velocity point
Shoppers are gearing up for the opening of what could be Australia’s cheapest ever store selling Dyson hairdryers, domestic flights, Apple AirPods and more for next to nothing.
Virgin Velocity members can get their hands on the bargain of a lifetime as the airline opens its first-ever 1 Point Reward store for one day only on Saturday 10 June in Melbourne’s bustling Chapel Street.
Customers can redeem one Velocity Reward Point for a range of items from brands such as Smeg, Apple, Weber and Adidas.
The store is open 24 hours or until supplies last, so shoppers better be quick if they score a deal.
For a Velocity point, a Dyson hair dryer is offered for $649 or the cordless vacuum that normally costs $719.

Also among the deals is a 1950s style Smeg toaster, an Apple Watch or AirPods, Weber Baby Q, Breville barista coffee machine, GHD hair straightener or a Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker.
With one point, members can get one-way economy class travel to the Gold Coast, Cairns, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston, Sydney and Adelaide.
The store will be opening in honor of the Velocity 1 points Rewards Initiative, which kicks off on Sunday, June 11.
New 1-point rewards release every week and allow members to purchase international flights, gadgets and more for just one point each.
While the initiative may seem too good to be true, Nick Rohrlach, CEO of Velocity Frequent Flyer, assures bargain hunters there’s no catch.

“I expect Saturday to be a scene from the Black Friday sale, with hordes of shoppers trying to get their hands on a Dyson hair dryer or Apple Watch for just 1 Velocity Point. It really is something you have to see to believe,” he laughed.
“Most people I spoke to said the initiative is too good to be true, but I assure you we are serious about fast pay, and this initiative is proof of that.”
Nick said Melbourne was the perfect place to launch the initiative with “millions of Velocity members in Victoria.”
“We expect rewards to be snapped up quickly, so we encourage members to arrive early for the best chance of being rewarded. Christmas certainly comes early for Melburnians,’ he said.
We know it’s hard to believe a member can go on holiday for just 1 Velocity Point or buy a Dyson hair dryer for the equivalent of a $2 purchase at Coles, but this is the beauty of our 1 Point Rewards initiative and it’s fantastic to be able to launch it in Melbourne.’
