A Missouri man who went viral after a video of him not scanning the items in his shopping cart at a Walmart was posted online has denied he is a thief.

In the video, Bill Astle is seen standing in front of a self-checkout, removing various products from his shopping cart and putting them into bags without scanning them.

The woman who films the images, which were recorded on Mother’s Day, says in disbelief: ‘This man literally steals everything.’

The Spark employee has performed the routine countless times, and yet last month he was recorded performing the same task without his knowledge.

The video took the internet by storm and was quickly shared on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X.com, with many viewers condemning Astle’s actions in the comments and calling him a thief.

On X.com alone, the video has been viewed 15.6 million times and is captioned: “Man Won’t Scan Any Item at Walmart Self Checkout.”

Astle is overwhelmed by the attention and viral fame. Speaking about the video, he expressed his disbelief at the number of people who watched it.

“If they had continued the video for another 30 seconds, they would have seen it when I got the Spark delivery order, I scanned two dozen roses and paid with my debit card.”
