- Keith Lee started getting bullied after he reviewed a restaurant in Queens
- New York residents were angry after he ate a minced salmon sandwich
- Lee said people were proud that the Keith Lee effect didn't work
The famous Keith Lee Effect wasn't as effective in New York after the popular food critic tried a sandwich at a Queens deli on December 7.
It all started when a social media user DMed Keith Lee and suggested he try a salmon minced cheese sandwich at TasteBudz NYC.
He tried that and two other items from their menu, and ever since he gave a negative review about a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich that was a 4 out of 10, social media users have been extremely angry with him.
In a recent one video he posted to his TikTok yesterday, Lee said social media users started saying that “the Keith Lee effect doesn't work in New York.”
“The more we were there, people became proud that the Keith Lee effect didn't work, which really just blesses people,” Lee said.

TasteBudz NYC is one of many restaurants Lee went to during a trip to New York with his family.
The Las Vegas-based critic reviewed eight other New York restaurants in Brooklyn and The Bronx after receiving more than 1,000 requests from people hoping to eat at their restaurants.
According to Lee, New York was “the most interesting place on the food tour” for reasons that had nothing to do with food.
'The food wasn't the problem at all. The people following me from New York weren't the problem at all. It was the unwelcoming feeling we got the whole time we were there,” he said.
He confirmed that TasteBudz Deli was the first restaurant they went to on their New York tour and that the outrage was mainly due to the chopped cheese salmon sandwich he tried.
Social media users wondered why the food critic tried the sandwich in the first place and why he missed out on the Keith Lee effect in New York.
Natives were joking at first when they said the Keith Lee effect wasn't working, but once they meant it, he and his family were no longer welcome in several New York restaurants.

Fans have remained loyal to him since he gave the review, but fans of the Queens deli continued to bully him on the location's Instagram page.
Lee's fans have continued to support him during the bullying, but devoted customers at Tastebudz Deli have not.
New Yorkers who commented on Lee's video that was shared by Tastebuz Deli Instagram has given them their blessings and even said that the critic's opinion “doesn't count.”
One person wrote: 'He needs to clean his fingernails by giving a review. IMO lol.”
Other social media users have given positive reviews of the sandwich, which received mixed reviews.
'I don't agree that the cheese with salmon chop is fire and different. I didn't know they went together but maybe the one he got was salty and no one can enjoy salty or unseasoned food,” one Instagram user wrote.
The bullying that has been happening since Lee posted his review continues on the review video that TasteBudz Deli shared on their Instagram
Lee's trip to New York was not completely ruined by the bullying, as he was still welcome at several restaurants.
He also received thank you messages from Bruckner Pizza in The Bronx and Tamarind Island Roti Shop in Queens.
A fan also posted on his Instagram Story that there was a line at Taste of Heaven in Brooklyn, but Lee “said it was done.”
