Vincent Kompany insists there is ‘no limit’ to Luca Koleosho’s potential after the 19-year-old winger impressed during Burnley’s 5-0 thrashing over Sheffield United

Vincent Kompany claimed there is no ceiling to what Luca Koleosho can achieve at the top level after the teenager inspired Burnley to a first home win of the season.

The Italy Under-21 international, who had just five La Liga appearances to his name when Kompany signed him from Espanyol for £2.6million this summer, has been a shining light for the Clarets.

And he scored his first Premier League goal in the 5-0 draw against Sheffield United on Saturday, with his manager insisting there would be more to come.

“I don't think there's a limit to where it can go,” Kompany said. 'I think he still has so much to learn, of course, but he is in the right place for that, he is at the right level for this moment in his career and I think it is just a matter of time.

'He is extremely hard on himself and still demanding on himself. But the great thing is that it takes him a few seconds and he's back.

“The number of times he would make a 30- to 40-yard recovery run, overtake someone, win the ball back and then go the other way and then go at people one-on-one… that was just this game.

'He has done it in every game this season. I think he has a bright future.'

Burnley had lost all seven home games during a difficult start in the top flight but captain Josh Brownhill is confident they can stay.

“The people who have seen us play, even away, see that the performances have been brilliant, so there is no reason for the manager to be under any pressure,” Brownhill said.

'We have the faith and so do all the staff. People will see our scores and think we're in trouble, but the confidence we have, the players we have, we're so confident that we're going to do well this year.”
