‘I don’t care if people don’t like it – I can do what he does!’: Cameroonian ace Vincent Aboubakar doubles down on criticism of Mohamed Salah… saying the ONLY difference between them is Liverpool star’ chance to play for a big club
- Vincent Aboubakar has again targeted Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah
- Cameroon star Aboubakar is ‘unimpressed’ by Salah amid glowing praise
- He is convinced he can ‘do what he does’ if he played at a ‘big club’
Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar claims the only difference between him and Mohamed Salah is that the Liverpool star will get the chance to ‘play in a big club’.
Aboubakar doubles down on his criticism of the Egyptian, saying he “can” what Salah does, adding that he “don’t give a hoot” when people ignore his opinion.
Aboubakar, who plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, said: 90FootballFr: ‘I’m not impressed with him. I can do what he does. I just don’t have the opportunity to play at a big club.’
He added: “I understand people’s attitudes, he is one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League. It makes sense that when you talk about such a player, people will talk.
“But I did say it was my opinion, my point of view. I don’t care if people don’t like it.’
Earlier this year, ahead of Egypt’s play in the Africa Cup of Nations, Aboubakar took a swipe at Salah, claiming he is not on the same level as stars like Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.
The Cameroonian has long insisted that Salah does little to create in matches beyond his goals, in what has been seen as a bizarre critique of one of the best players in the world.
Salah has scored 170 goals for Liverpool in the past five seasons and produced a match-winning display against Tottenham on Sunday in a 2-1 win.
He also won the African Footballer of the Year title in both 2017 and 2018, but Aboubakar is still unimpressed.
One person who certainly disagrees with Aboubakar is Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who believes Salah will be remembered as one of the greatest strikers ever.
“Looking back, everyone will remember one of the best strikers you’ve ever seen because the numbers are going to be absolutely insane,” Klopp said after the win over Tottenham.
“He scored two goals and played like a real team player. Top performances and an excellent attitude.’
