On Friday, October 6, Netflix announced that Vikings: Valhalla will end with a third season that is set to premiere sometime in 2024, according to several publications, including time limit.

Along with the big reveal, Netflix released a series of first-look images that are a sure sign Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett) and Freidis Eiriksdottir (Frida Gustavsson) are in for some more high-drama adventures. of them before going into the sunset.

The historical drama series created by Jeb Stewart serves as a sequel to the hit historical drama created by Michael Hirst Vikings (2013-2020)which ran for six seasons on the History Channel and Prime Video.

Set 100 years after the events of Vikings, Valhalla begins with depictions of the Massacre on St Brice’s Day in 1002 and is expected to end at the end of the Viking Age, which will be marked by the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.

“I am very grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydis.” “I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how the three most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and that’s what we did,” co-creator and executive producer Jeb Stewart said in a statement.

The writer, director and producer continued: “When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to create a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying. Of course, with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that can be explored, but it made sense that our journeys of Leif, Freydis and Harald would end with our third season.

Stewart, who is also known for writing the blockbuster films Die Hard and The Fugitive, concluded by saying that he and the rest of the cast and crew “really can’t wait for the fans to see the end of this chapter of history.”

The eight-episode first season premiered on Netflix in February 2022.

As it marks the beginning of the end of the Viking Age, the story follows Leif, his sister Freydis, and Prince Harald of Norway as they struggle to survive in this ever-changing world.

The cast also includes Bradley Freegard, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Laura Berlin, David Oakes, Pollyanna McIntosh, Soren Pilmark, Bradley James, Hyatt Kamil, Marcin Dorocinski and Sofia Lebedeva.

Among the actors who will join the cast for the third season is Goran Višnjić as Eric the Red, the legendary Viking father of Leif and Freydis, who lives in exile in Greenland because of the crimes he committed in Iceland and Norway.
