Soft & Quiet was originally released in 2022, but arrived on Netflix this month.

De Araújo has described the work as a “current American nightmare” – and it has left viewers terrified of sharing their thoughts on the film on social media.

One posted, “It’s literally the only movie I’ve rented and then refused to finish. It’s also the only movie I want to send to hell in the express lane.”

“We turned on soft&quiet and I didn’t think this movie would be like this…I’m very upset.”

Another recommended the watch, writing, “Soft & Quiet is on Netflix today and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

“An incredibly daring film in both form and content, writer/director Beth de Araújo took this real-world horror story as a real-time one and knocks it out of the park.”

One viewer wanted to send the film to “hell in the express lane.”

Another was more complimentary to call it “bold” in “both form and substance”

The latest fear comes after Netflix presented the French horror series Marianne, which made viewers “frightened for their lives.”

Originally released in 2019, the petrified series follows a fictional famed horror writer named Emma who returns to her hometown, only to realize that the demons she dreamed of as a child are now terrorizing the real world.

One viewer was left in such a state that they had to take their pet to the toilet with them: ‘Marianne on Netflix is so freaking scary. Like I have to take Tinkerbell to the bathroom creepy. For real.’

Another wrote, “Just finished watching Marianne on Netflix and it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

The series gained international popularity upon its release, but the show’s creator said there were not enough fans to pursue a second season.
