Several football fans made complaints after Wrexham’s open bus parade was shown on the BBC.

The Wales side have been promoted to the Football League after winning the National League, and paraded their trophy to thousands of fans along the city streets on Tuesday evening.

The club’s Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, were on the buses and accompanied by the squad that will lead the club back to the Football League for the first time in 15 years.

Reynolds and McElhenney organized the victory parade, which kicked off at 6.15pm and saw the players march through the town for an hour before finishing at the Racecourse Ground.

However, several fans were baffled by the coverage of the celebration, with the BBC opting to show full coverage of the fifth tier champions’ celebration.

‘Absolutely lost for words, BBC National News with live coverage of Wrexham’s open-top bus parade?!’ one bewildered fan asked on Twitter.

‘The BBC shows live coverage of Wrexham’s open-top bus parade on their website. The circus is in full swing!’ said another fan. “I can’t imagine they would give that cover for league teams, let alone non-league teams.”

‘BBC website providing live coverage and ongoing updates of the Wrexham parade? We have officially gone too far,” a third added.

The men’s bus read: ‘National League Champions’ and had to be led through the streets between the fans while the viewers watched.

It wasn’t all bad though, some viewers were happy to see the National League getting more mainstream attention.

‘Really amazing to see live BBC News coverage of a National League title parade,’ said one user. ‘Never thought I’d see the day. Congratulations to everyone at Wrexham.’

The club celebrated promotion to the Football League for the first time in 15 years

‘Fantastic to watch – the BBC News channel provided almost 2 hours of continuous coverage of the parade. I loved it,” said another.

Reynolds and McElhenney were seen waving to the crowd while on the women’s team bus as they celebrated their promotion to the Genero Adran Premier.

Queen’s iconic song “We are the Champions” blared from the bus’s loudspeaker as they made their way along the 3.5-mile route, while supporters fired red flares to create an even better atmosphere for the parade .

Reynolds and McElhenney were moved to tears at the parade as the festivities continued ahead of the England game’s off-season.
