A new cellphone video has revealed the moment a man ignited the rocket that struck and killed a mother of two on a southern Brazilian beach on New Year’s Eve.
Elisângela Tinem, 38, died after a stray explosive hit her in the chest in Praia Grande, São Paulo.
The gruesome clip shows the individual standing behind the explosive that was placed on the sand and running away from it as it glowed for around 20 seconds.
Instead of shooting straight into the sky, the rocket deflected and shot directly toward where Tinem and his family members were standing watching a fireworks display celebrating the arrival of the new year.

Elisângela Tinem was with her family watching a fireworks display to ring in the new year in São Paulo, Brazil, when she was struck and killed by a stray rocket.
Fireworks exploded hitting Tinem as her two sons looked on in horror.
Tinem’s cousin, Alexander Gonçalves, 41, tried to remove the explosive from his chest, but was burned doing so.
Gonçalves told the Brazilian outlet G1 that the family was in a house they had rented for a week, but they chose to go to the beach to celebrate New Year’s Eve by watching the fireworks display that the city had organized.
They found a spot in the arena to get a good view of the display, but kept their distance as some revelers were setting off fireworks in the arena.
Gonçalves was recording the fireworks display with Tinem’s cellphone when he noticed that she was hit by the rocket after it went off course.
I saw her turn around, but I kept looking straight ahead. That’s when I heard her scream,” she said. ‘At that moment I looked at her and saw the artifact trapped from her. I ran towards her, about two steps, to try to hit the rocket and get it off her.’

Gonçalves and some family members stumbled back after the rocket exploded over Tinem’s body.
“I was stunned for a few seconds. When I came to her senses, I looked for her, looked to the side of her, and she was lying down,” she said.
Praia Grande police identified the incident as a culpable homicide and bodily injury.
Police chief Alex Mendonça told the Metropoles newspaper that investigators were able to obtain an image of the suspect’s face and are working to identify him.
Authorities are also trying to find out who sold the fireworks, as their sale is prohibited in the city.
