Next, a woman decided to sing her husband’s name opera-style, while the second-place winner opted for a classical version and simply yelled ‘Daryl’.
And finally, the winner, Bonnie Swalell Eilert, called out her husband’s name, Roy, in a pitch so loud many weren’t even sure it existed before angrily adding, ‘Can you hear me? Get in here right now. Go! You know you’re going to be late again and you know I want to be on time.

According to State Fair Marketing Director Mindy Williamson, the exclusive Husband Calling Contest is held every year at Pioneer Hall.
It has 12 to 15 different women calling out their husbands’ names each year.
One woman began by singing ‘Roy,’ before adding, ‘honey, come in here.’
Another woman really put her all into her performance when she was seen jumping up and down while yelling ‘Terry, get over here right now.’
And in true Iowa fashion, the next woman called her husband Stan to “help out with the cattle.”
The next woman proudly sang ‘Troy’, while another yelled at her husband Jared to help ‘with the babies’.
And then champion Camellia Pohl showed up and put on a “modern art performance,” according to social media users, and rolled her R’s while yelling Randy and throwing her hands up in the air.
The next fair is in August and the schedule will be posted during the summer months before the events take place.
