A police officer has been charged with several child molestation charges just a month after getting married.
Conor McCurley, 26, is a first officer from Victoria’s North West Metro region and appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday after being charged with 19 offences.
These charges include committing indecent acts with or in the presence of a child under the age of 16, sexual penetration and touching the genitals of his alleged victim, Herald Sun reported.
It is alleged that McCurley committed the offenses when he was a teenager between 2011 and 2014, before joining the Victoria Police Department, with his alleged victim now in his 20s.

McCurley was charged on August 16 following an internal police investigation by the Sexual Offenses and Family Violence Unit (SOFVU).
He appeared in court virtually on Friday, where the case was postponed to November 10.
The news comes just weeks before McCurley is set to marry his fiancee of two years on Sept. 30 at Acacia Ridge Winery in Yarra Valley.
The couple’s wedding countdown website shows a timeline of their love story, detailing how they met in 2020 and got engaged in 2021.
It is unclear whether the wedding will go ahead.
McCurley’s hearing took place on the same day another Victorian first constable was charged with a list of sex offences.
The 35-year-old male officer was charged with seven counts of sexual assault allegedly occurring in western Victoria between 2018 and 2020 while off duty.
He will appear in court at a later date.
