Victoria Monet, 34, expresses frustration over weight gain due to PCOS as she looks back at Coachella performance: ‘It has me really messed up’

Victoria Monét took to her Instagram platform this week to talk about her battle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

The 34-year-old singer – who brought daughter Hazel to the Grammys this year – shared a photo of herself performing at Coachella on her Instagram Stories and reflected on how the condition has affected her body.

“Welp.. I gained a lot of weight and it went in a lot of places, lol face, arms, stomach and most of all… dat*ssss,” she wrote to her 1.8 million followers.

She wore a halter neck bodysuit and chaps for the performance and sang her hit songs with an image of the moon projected behind her.

Explaining her physical changes, she added, “I’m usually so critical and frustrated with it because PCOS has really messed me up, but optimistically at least two moons are on stage now.”

About one in ten American women of childbearing age are diagnosed with PCOS and it affects the functioning of the ovaries, which affects fertility.

There are three main characteristics of the condition: irregular ovulation, increased testosterone and small fluid-filled sacs that form on the ovaries.

It results in a range of symptoms, including little or no menstrual periods, weight gain and excessive hair growth.

Despite the less-than-ideal effects, Monet didn’t let her health keep her from enjoying her time at the annual festival.

She shared a collection of images from back-to-back weekends in Indio, California to her Instagram grid on Tuesday.

In the caption she wrote, “Damn Coachella. I loved you and you immediately loved me back. Thank you very much!!!’

The grateful entertainer added: “We had the time of our lives.”

The film highlighted the rehearsals before her shows and her live sets, and she provided the soundtrack to her hit On My Mama.

It comes after the mother-of-one shared a special evening with her three-year-old daughter Hazel earlier this year as they both attended the Grammys for the first time.

She said People in December: ‘It’s really a big problem. I think it’s another full circle moment for me because during pregnancy everything was really scary.

“People told me how bad a career move it could be, how damaging it could be to everything.”

Hazel was nominated for an award along with her mother after her vocals appeared on her album Jaguar II.

Monet added about sharing the special moment with Hazel: “Pregnancy is entering uncharted territory and no one’s story is the same. So to see one of the most terrifying moments of my career turn into one of the best moments ever in my career is truly magical. I am honored to have the award for her.”
