The pair met at a showbiz party in 2007 and were introduced by fellow funnyman David Baddiel.

Although David admitted he was instantly smitten with the fellow writer and presenter, three years passed before they actually got together.

Victoria was in a relationship with someone else at the time and rejected the comedian’s advances.

In his autobiography Back Story, David spoke about the pain of not being with the love of his life for all those years, and how this led him to midnight walks in the park and frequent visits to the pub.

‘I was hopelessly in love. I didn’t tell anyone about it,” the star reveals in his book. “I didn’t tell my best friends or my parents about the enormous sadness that overshadowed my life.”

“I started to walk in front of my back,” he wrote. ‘Thanks to her I continued. It made it more bearable to think about her.”

‘I always enjoyed getting drunk in the pub or at parties – now I really felt like it.’

‘You could use it to speed up time – almost like noticing the next morning’s hangover. So I did. A lot of. A few times, when I was drunk, I ran off with someone. The drink allowed me to tell myself that maybe it would make me feel better. Maybe I will be able to fall in love with this person.’

Does Victoria Coren Mitchell have children David Mitchell?

The couple are already parents to an eight-year-old daughter Barbara, who previously described the comedian as ‘the best person ever born’.

He said in a chat on The Jonathan Ross Show in 2018: ‘Unfortunately, there is nothing like having a small child for the safety that you are responsible for.

‘You really don’t want the world to spin against the sun and explode. You thought you didn’t want it at first, but you really don’t want it (after having a child).

“That’s the real downside of parenting, and I guess any kind of love makes you more anxious… I’d say love isn’t a stress-relieving exercise, right?

‘What you want is a long period of mild contentment… I’m a family man. I’ve made bad choices and I worry all the time.’
