It looks like a Lone Star State rivalry will form the basis for French phenom Victor Wembanyama’s debut in the NBA.

That reports NBA reporter Mark SteinWembanyama’s first game “is tentatively scheduled for October 25” with the rookie’s San Antonio Spurs team hosting the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic.

It’s the highly anticipated league debut for one of the most hyped talents in NBA history.

He was drafted first by San Antonio in this year’s NBA Draft just a few months ago.

Since then, Wembanyama has decided to try to ‘disappear’ after a lengthy draft process, a long season in the French league and playing in the NBA’s Summer League.

Wembanyama’s stay in the Summer League was short – just a few games – and then he decided to take a much-needed vacation as he began to build his life off the field in San Antonio.

“I don’t think basketball was even half of my agenda last month,” Wembanyama said last month. ‘I can not stand it. I know it’s a special moment in my life, but I’m glad it’s over. I just want to hoop.

“I just want to train, lift, because this is my life. Obviously any first (overall) choice has to go through this, but yeah, it just makes me better for the future.”

Wembanyama also faced a scandal surrounding Britney Spears when her attempts to meet him were met with violence by the NBA player’s security personnel.

He will likely be back on the field for the start of the NBA preseason in early October – with the Spurs’ first game against Oklahoma City.
