Victor Wembanyama’s jersey from his NBA debut sold at auction on Tuesday for a whopping $762,000, more than six times what was expected.
The Spurs rookie scored 15 points against the Mavericks on October 25 as his team lost 126-119.
And one lucky bidder scooped up the piece of history, paying a high six figures to buy Wembanyama’s white, silver and black number 1 jersey from the competition.
It was estimated in advance that the jersey would cost $100,000, although that figure was comfortably blown away when 62 bids were placed.
The auction, held by Sotheby’s, sold a total of $1.2 million and purchased more than 60 game-worn NBA jerseys.

That included a LeBron James jersey from the Lakers’ first game this season against the Nuggets.
James’ jersey sold for $50,800, while Damian Lillard’s jersey from his Bucks debut went for $30,480.
A uniform worn by Hornets No. 3 overall pick Brandon Miller in his pro debut also fetched $27,940.
Wembanyama is averaging 18.6 points per game so far in his rookie campaign.
However, he and his young Spurs side are just 3-11.
