San Antonio Spurs star rookie Victor Wembanyama secured a triple-double on Monday night, but without the more usual assists and with 10 blocks instead.

The 7-foot Wembanyama finished the win over the Toronto Raptors with 27 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks and five assists in just 29 minutes of game action.

The Spurs are the worst team in the Western Conference and the third-worst team in the NBA, currently 16.5 games out of a spot in the Play-In Tournament.

No NBA player had achieved a triple-double with blocks as one of the three double-digit stat categories in more than three years before Monday night.

Atlanta’s Clint Capela was the last player to get blocks in a triple-double in January 2021. That was also the last time, before Wembanyama, that a player had 10 or more shots blocked in a game.

The NBA record for most triple-doubles with blocks as one of the three categories belongs to Hakeem Olajuwon, just ahead of Dikembe Mutombo, and two more than former Spurs center David Robinson.

Along with Robinson, Artis Gilmore was the only other Spur to accomplish this feat.

The Spurs’ next game is Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
