Victor Lindelof was struck with what appeared to be a lighter as he and his Manchester United teammates celebrated on Saturday.

The Swedish defender cheered with his teammates after Bruno Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot at Wembley.

While celebrating, Lindelof was hit by an object that appeared to have been thrown from the crowd and hit him in the face.

Fernandes and Casemiro could then be seen protesting with City fans in the corner of the ground as referee Paul Tierney walked over to remove the players from the stands.

Commentary for the BBC Jermaine Jenas condemned the incident: ‘As you can see something was thrown and it hit Lindelof. We’ve got a brilliant game ahead of us here, it’s the last thing you want to see.’

Guy Mowbray added: ‘It’s just ridiculous. Hopefully whoever threw that object saw his last football today and hopefully for a long time to come.’
