A man found with fatal stab wounds on a Manhattan subway had previously been the victim of a hate crime after being attacked while traveling the Bronx last year.

Tavon Silver, 32, was found unconscious early Saturday morning on a southbound 4 train at the 14th Street Union Square station and was later pronounced dead by police.

It has since been revealed that in June 2022, Silver was stabbed in the arm during a homophobic attack – that time on a northbound 2 train near the 3rd Avenue-149th Street station in Melrose in the Bronx.

Silver and his fiancé were on the train playing loud music when another man, identified as Runadieo Jordan, 52, shouted a homophobic slur at the couple.

After continuing with the insults, Jordan stabbed Silver, causing a serious arm injury.

Silver spoke Fox 5 shortly after the attack where he explained what happened during the incident.

Before I know it, I had a hole in my arm. Like blood was pouring everywhere,” Silver said. “It was a straight cut and he took a huge chunk off my wrist. He literally cut my wrist off. So if you look right through it, you can see my bone.”

He described how Jordan stabbed him, causing significant bleeding and injuring his wrist.

Jordan remained undeterred and walked past the pair, continuing to use derogatory remarks as Silver lay unconscious on the floor.

“He passed us as I passed out on the floor, bleeding to death. And he just walked past us, and he said, “Please, you stupid son of a bitch,” Silver recalled.

At the time, Jordan was charged with two counts of assault as a hate crime, criminal possession of a weapon, and aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
