Three people hospitalised in accidents at Safety Beach on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula
Two separate incidents at a popular beach have sent three people to hospital on the same day.
The first incident occurred when a man in his 20s had to be rescued at Safety Beach, 85km south of Melbourne on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, at 2pm on Saturday.
Ambulance Victoria transported the man to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition.
Less than an hour later, a teenager, a man and a child needed help at the same location after their personal watercraft collided at 2:30 p.m.
Emergency services took the teenager to the Royal Children’s Hospital with upper body injuries and the man was taken to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition.
Life Saving Victoria carried out the two beach rescues with a helicopter hovering above.
A lifesaving dinghy and a jet ski were used to pull the people from the ocean and at least two ambulances were seen parked at the beach boat ramp.
Victoria Police are investigating the collision and have already seized the teen’s jet ski and the man’s boat.
