Vicky Pattison shares candid update on her egg-freezing journey as she reaches one-week milestone

Vicky Pattison has given fans a candid update on her fertility journey into egg freezing after reaching a week of hormone injections on Wednesday.

The former Geordie Shore star, 35, has long hoped to freeze her eggs – keeping fans updated on the process following a setback earlier this year when a ovarian cyst found.

But after announcing last week that she and fiancé Ercan Ramadan were “finally able to take our next steps towards becoming parents one day,” Vicky released another update a week later.

Vicky revealed in February that her decision to freeze eggs comes because she’s not “mentally ready for kids,” adding that she’s keeping some eggs for herself in case she and beau Ercan split.

And opening up on Wednesday with her 5.3 million Instagram followers, Vicky admitted that while last week “wasn’t as bad” as she expected, she also revealed she was “lying” when she said it was “all clear used to be’. the sailing’.

To keep it real, she included a series of snaps from the past week, while in the hospital preparing her injections and crying.

And while explaining the many photos on her social media, she told her followers, “My egg freezing journey so far…”

Vicky began: ‘Yesterday I went to @londonwomensclinic to get a scan to see if my ovaries were responding correctly to my hormone injections.

“I can’t tell you how happy I was to learn I have chubby little ovaries. Probably the only time in my life I’ll be happy to be called chubby.

“But it basically means the hormones are doing their thing and my eggs are laying eggs.” (I know, my medical jargon is fantastic… just call me Meredith Grey)’.

She continued: “This past week hasn’t been as bad as I expected – there have been some highs and lows, but I suppose that’s to be expected – all in all I’m just really thankful that my body seems to be responding to the medication and things are going in the right direction.’

Vicky then told followers she wanted to share the lessons she’s learned on her journey so far.

Opening up, she said: “When I last tried to start this process in January – I booked 2 weeks off from work and brought my mum down to stay – I was determined to focus on the journey and my body the best environment it could have for my little eggies to be successful.

“But as you all know, I fell at the first hurdle. I was obviously disappointed but understood that sometimes it’s the way the cookie crumbles.

“This time I didn’t allow myself to get my hopes up because I’d already had some disappointments – so when I found out my cyst was gone and I could actually start the process, I had work booked, filming, podcasts, photoshoots , we had travel, wedding planning – the lot.. & it was just too late to cancel things.

“But what I’ve actually discovered is that staying busy has been a godsend. I’m the type of person who, when I’m not busy, drives myself crazy, is in my own head and my mind plays tricks on me.

‘And if everything had gone according to plan in January & I’d been sitting in the house waiting to give myself my next shot & worried if everything was going to be okay – this would have been a totally different experience – all in all a more sad and stressed experience an i think…

“What I’m trying to say is… keep your routine as normal as possible.”

To get technical, Vicky then explained the benefits of “freezing” her stomach with an ice pack before injecting.

She said, “It saves a lot of discomfort and helps with the sting.”

On the next topic, bloating, Vicky admitted, “I always need a pee! But hardly anything comes out…’.

Vicky then praised the importance of a “positive mindset,” saying, “I was reminding myself every day how lucky I am to be able to do this and how lucky I am that my body is capable of it.”

“But no matter how positive you try to be, some moments will just blow your mind. There will just be moments that are really hard and that’s okay.

“You pump your body full of hormones, you build up your hopes, you put so much pressure on yourself…feelings of sadness, stress, and overwhelm are inevitable.

“So when they do, just be nice to yourself and do something for you.” I went hiding in the downstairs bathroom and sobbing. Privately I like to relax completely, just my personal preference’.

FREEZING YOUR EGGS: THE FACTS

Freezing eggs means going through the IVF process, which typically takes two to three weeks.

This includes taking medications to stimulate egg production and also help the eggs mature.

Once the eggs are ready, women are placed under general anesthesia while they are collected – usually about 15 eggs, although this is not always possible for women with lower reserves.

A freezing solution is then added to the eggs to protect them, then they are frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen tanks.

When the woman is ready to use the eggs, they are thawed and those that remain intact are injected with sperm.

In conclusion, Vicky said, “After all, most people are great — sooo many women have gone through this process in one form or another for one reason or another and they’re great.”

“I’ve had so many sweet messages from beautiful women giving me support and advice and I’m so grateful to all of you for the kindness you’ve shown me.”

Vicky started testing whether egg freezing was an option for her in April last year.

At the time, she revealed that despite saying in the past that kids weren’t on her radar, settling down with Ercan has changed her mind on the matter.

Speaking candidly about the decision to freeze eggs earlier this year, Vicky spoke later than many about finding love.

“My journey to motherhood was nothing like Disney’s fairy tales. I haven’t found anyone to love me for a long time,” she said.

Adding that while there are no plans to divorce Ercan, who she got engaged to last year, the star shared that she was keeping some eggs for protection.

Noting, “I adore him and he adores me. No one wants to break up and divorce and I’m sure we don’t want that, but I’m protecting me and my happiness.’

Ercan got down on one knee in February last year as the couple plan a 2024 wedding.

Speaking of their upcoming nuptials, Vicky said late last year, ‘And I can’t believe I can say in a few days – we’re getting married next year, Arghhhhhhh!!! Our next chapter will be the most exciting yet.”

She and Ercan have been together since January 2019.

After a brief split in March of that year, the couple seems to have gone from strength to strength ever since.

In 2021, the couple became parents to an adorable golden labrador named Milo before adding second pup Max to the mix a year later.
