Vicky Pattison took to Instagram to say she was rushed to the emergency room after “ignoring the warning signs” and “becoming physically unable to move.”
The 36-year-old TV personality shared a lengthy health summary alongside alarming snaps as she lay sobbing in her hospital bed hooked up to an IV after she was diagnosed with glandular fever and an abscess in her throat.
Vicky was attended to at her bedside by her fiancé Ercan Ramadan, 30, but cast doubt on her upcoming summer wedding after saying she would have to stay in hospital “for a while longer”.
Writing: ‘Definitely not the weekend I was planning on having. I was looking forward to being on Mount Snowdon, damn it’
“I don’t even know where to start, but I feel like I told that stupid story to let a few people who were concerned about my radio silence know that I was taken care of, and then a lot more more people are concerned. That wasn’t my intention at all, besides, you’re all too nice.”

She continued: ‘I’m feeling a lot better, but I’ve stopped taking my painkillers altogether, so I’m hoping it doesn’t all get a bit chaotic.’
‘I woke up on Thursday with a terrible headache. I ignored it and assumed it was because I had a long day the day before. Anyway, it persisted and got worse: sore throat, razor-like tremors, fever, muscle aches, painful joints, etc.’
‘I tried to go to an emergency doctor’s appointment but we got our stuff in a terrible accident – a journey that should have taken an hour took 6 and although the doctor tried his best on the phone he had no idea what was best. Fast forward 24 hours and I started to get sick which only made things worse – my throat was so swollen I couldn’t swallow, drinking water and painkillers were out of the question, it got to the point where I physically couldn’t move.’
Vicky continued, “I started getting scared so I made another emergency call to my doctor and was immediately referred to the ER. After about 36 hours, about 6 bags of fluids, 3 antibiotics and an unknown amount of painkillers, we started to figure out what was causing the problems.”
“They think it’s glandular fever, a major infection and an abscess in my throat. I didn’t give myself any recovery time after covid and it just compromised my immune system I think. I didn’t give myself any downtime this year,”
‘I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, following a gruelling schedule and ignoring all the signs that my body was desperate for a break; I feel exhausted, overwhelmed, can’t sleep at night because I’m exhausted in the morning, loss of appetite, not prioritizing my exercise – I haven’t done anything since the half marathon in April, which is so unlike me.’
Before I concluded, ‘This was the wake-up call I needed, but I’m angry at myself for letting it get to this point. I have to stay in the hospital for a while now and I think this is for the best.’
It comes just days after Vicky revealed the wedding would be filmed for a two-part special on E4.
