Vicky Pattison admits she feels ‘depressed’ and ‘anxious’ – just hours before her wedding to Ercan Ramadan

Vicky Pattison admitted on Instagram on Friday that she was feeling “depressed” and “anxious” just hours before her wedding to Ercan Ramadan.

The 36-year-old reality star is set to marry former construction worker and now celebrity Ercan (30) this weekend at Marylebone Town Hall.

But Vicky opened up about how her premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PDD), where women experience more severe symptoms of premenstrual dysfunction (PMS), is affecting the lead-up to her special day.

She shared photos of herself in her underwear, looking bloated, as well as heartbreaking selfies of herself crying.

Vicky wrote a lengthy caption with her post, which began, “PMDD and life’s big moments..”

She continued, “This isn’t going to make sense to a lot of people, it might seem dramatic to some, and if this doesn’t resonate with you at all, that’s okay… you can keep scrolling. Because this post isn’t for everyone.

‘One in 20 women suffer from PMDD. However, the true figure is likely to be much higher because women are misdiagnosed, ignored and manipulated into thinking they are hysterical.

So if you’re in that group of 20, or if you find yourself not in that luteal phase before your period for a week to 10 days each month, this post is for you.

‘Believe me, the week before my wedding, I didn’t want to be this person at all… Imagine being excited and happy, having little birds pull your dress on for you… Instead, I was depressed, anxious and self-critical, full of feminine rage, hopelessness and exhaustion.

That’s what PMDD does.

‘PMDD is like building a sandcastle of good habits, positive moods and a loving personality and then watching it all get swept away, leaving behind depression, anger, hope and fear. The wave recedes. You start to rebuild, just as a new wave comes crashing down.

‘And you know what’s REALLY annoying? Just like your period ALWAYS seems to be off when you go on holiday… that heavy PMDD week is always a week where you have something important to do, something where you could actually be your bright, shiny, BRILLIANT self… instead of this anxious, suicidal little shell of a woman

‘We have no control over when that wave spreads.

‘I’ve had messages from women who say PMDD has robbed them of so many things. It shows up at birthdays, graduations, job interviews. It’s stopped them from being the mothers they wanted to be, it’s put a strain on relationships, it’s stolen moments that should have been happy.

‘I wish there was a super happy ending to this post, that I could end it with the words ‘but I found this pill and now I feel amazing’, but there isn’t. Instead, I’m just saying to everyone out there who is suffering: I see you, I get it, and I’m sorry.

But you know, as powerful as those thoughts and hormones can be…

Vicky continued in the comments: ‘But you know what, as powerful as those emotions and hormones can be.. I’m adamant that they’re not going to take this moment away from me. I might be a slightly more excitable bride than I planned.. thinking less Cinderella and more Ursula the Sea Witch.. but so what?!

‘That floating old hag deserves her too! I mean, maybe she was just misunderstood

‘MAYBE SHE HAD PMDD??? (That would REALLY explain a LOT!) What has helped me immensely on this journey is that my friends and family understand and know what I’m going through.

‘So if you’re struggling with PMDD and you’re afraid of the person it makes you, you’re afraid that people won’t understand you. Help them understand. Explain what you’re feeling, how scary it is.

“And even if those important moments don’t go exactly as you imagined or wanted… with people by your side, who love you, support you and try to understand you… things are just a little bit easier. Love you all.”
