Veteran sportscaster Jim Wilson parting ways with Channel Nine

Former 2GB drivetime presenter Jim Wilson has parted ways with Channel Nine.

The 54-year-old veteran journalist had resigned from radio work in November after two years, with time remaining on his contract.

Soon after, Channel Nine, owner of 2GB, announced that the father-of-two would continue to work with the TV station.

but monday the aussie reported that Nine and Wilson have “parted, amicably, forever”.

There was speculation last year that Wilson could replace Charles Croucher on the Weekend Today breakfast show, however an “audition” never took place on air.

“Unfortunately, Jim was hired as a radio person, not for television,” a Nine source claimed.

Wilson, who began his career at the Seven Network, moved into radio in 2020 after working in television for decades and quickly developed a loyal audience.

He shocked fans in November when he told listeners he was leaving 2GB after two years with the top-rated station.

Wilson had started at Channel Nine with 2GB in 2020 to introduce the drive-time change, but resigned last November.

Wilson is married to former Sevens newscaster Chris Bath (left), who currently presents the weekend news on Channel 10’s News First.

He took over the former slot from Ben Fordham, after Fordham managed to broadcast King Alan Jones in the breakfast slot in early June, following his retirement.

Wilson’s announcement came just hours after his wife, newscaster Chris Bath, tragically lost her father Donald after he passed away peacefully with his family at his side.

Wilson tragically lost his youngest son, Sam, in 2010 after an eight-month battle with brain cancer.

He also shares an older son, Joseph, with his ex-wife Jackie, whom he separated from in 2008.
