Venom: The Last Dance wins box office with $51 million ahead of the Halloween holiday

Scary movies were a big hit at the box office this weekend as Halloween approaches, but a new Marvel movie has emerged as the top contender.

Venom: The Last Dance stars Tom Hardy as a human who has become one with an alien. In what could be their last adventure together, the two may have to part ways so that each of their worlds can survive.

The latest chapter in the popular Marvel franchise underperformed at the box office, taking in just $51 million, well below the projected $65 million the studio had hoped for.

The original Venom opened in 2018 with $80.2 million, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage enjoyed a $90 million opening in 2021.

The action-adventure fared much better overseas, grossing $124 million.
