Outspoken Australian vegan activist Tash Peterson has been criticized by British commentator Piers Morgan for comparing the slaughter of farm animals to the Holocaust.
Ms Peterson, 29, from Western Australia, appeared on Morgan’s TV show Uncensored on Friday wearing a T-shirt with the words ‘End this holocaust’ and a picture of a pig in a cage.
Morgan suggested that people lost interest in veganism because they were “tired of being yelled at.”
“You’re one of those people who barges into restaurants and plays sounds of animals screaming in slaughterhouses and so on,” Morgan said.

Tash Peterson said ‘there have been multiple holocausts in human history’
The controversial activist hit back, stating she disagreed with his analysis.
“No, I don’t think so,” she said.
“I think it draws more attention to the animal holocaust,” Peterson offered, to which Mr. Morgan then asked, “Why use the word holocaust?”
“Holocaust is the mass extermination of more than six million Jewish people by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis,” he said.
“Why would you use that highly emotional language knowing it would offend people?”
Ms Peterson replied that it was ‘just a statement of fact’.
“If you look at the definition of a holocaust, it’s massacre or destruction on a massive scale,” she said.
“Mankind has been subjected to multiple holocausts throughout human history, and non-human animals can be subjected to the same cruelties as humans.”

Mr Morgan also criticized Ms Peterson’s methods of protest, saying there were better ways to convince people to switch to veganism “than walking into restaurants and playing noises of animals screaming”.
Ms. Peterson is currently in the UK for the Vegan Camp Out Festival where she will be guest speaker.
She had to seek permission from a Perth court for the journey after being charged with failure to leave a licensed venue, disorderly conduct and trespass.
Ms Peterson was banned from entering licensed venues in WA for 12 months after she was involved in multiple confrontations with chef John Mountain at his restaurant Fyre in Perth on June 30 and July 8.
Mountain banned vegans from his restaurant in June, prompting Ms Peterson to stage protests outside his restaurant, where she disturbed diners by playing loud sounds of squealing pigs while screaming about the “animal apocalypse.”
Ms Peterson posted a video to social media this week in which she appears to be burning the police notice banning her from WA pubs and restaurants.
Peterson will appear via video link for her next trial on July 31.
