Vanessa Feltz opened up about one of the “risks of being single” as she tried to get out of a skin-tight red ball gown on her own on Monday night.
The 62-year-old presenter attended the London Lifestyle Awards in the glamorous dress, which featured a plunging neckline and embroidered mesh details.
Despite offers from ‘kind gentlemen’ to accompany her home to ‘ensure she wasn’t stuck’, Vanessa opted for independence and wanted to do it herself.
She documented the experience in a video she shared with her 399,000 Instagram followers after the glitzy event.
Filming herself in the mirror, she said: ‘I’ve just come from the London Lifestyle Awards and I was amazed at how many friendly, open-hearted gentlemen offered to accompany me home just to make sure I didn’t get stuck in my dress . .

‘But I said, ‘don’t worry, it’ll be fine, because I put this dress on myself, so I should be able to get the hell out of it.’
She continued, “So now is the moment of reckoning, so let me start moving this beautiful jacket. Right, that was easy to do.”
The star wore a cream-colored fluffy jacket with pink star details, which she was able to pull off without any problems.
“The ball gown you see is quite plain,” she continued, “but this one actually has a zipper in the back that I closed myself.”
Reaching for the back of the dress, she added, “I’m confident I should be able to do this without the help of some strange gentleman, so let’s see.”
“And lo and behold, I can take the dress off – I mean, I won’t do it with you watching, but I could if I wanted to.”

In August, Vanessa admitted she’s finding the “crushing loneliness” of being single difficult to navigate following her split from Ben.
The star has been single since the breakup but has gone on many dates, most of which appear to have been unsuccessful.
Writing in her Emphatic In the column, Vanessa candidly admitted that she struggles with feeling lonely after having a partner for so many years.
She wrote: ‘I was so lucky to go on holiday to Spain with my grandchildren, but returning to an empty house feels somber after days of fun and laughter.
“I’m a reluctant singleton. I’m trying to muster some backbone, but I don’t like it. I have found that the contrast between the 24/7 togetherness of the family and the crushing loneliness is difficult to bridge. My heart goes out to everyone who is in the same boat.”
During a recent appearance on the Suddenly Single podcast, Vanessa opened up about how she’s been on some “demoralizing” dates lately.
She said: ‘When you’re on a terrible date, where there’s nothing, it’s not fun, they’re looking at you and you’re looking at them, and when you go home and walk through the door, it’s really hard… hard not to feel a little less.
‘You don’t feel attractive, you don’t think what you said is funny. You don’t feel wanted.’

Vanessa, who said her most recent date was ‘terrible’, has no desire to try out the world of online dating.
She said: ‘I’ve never swiped in my life – I think I’d be in the paper in two to three seconds.’
Vanessa even tried her luck on Celebs Go Dating, but unfortunately didn’t mean The One.
She said of the experience: ‘It was very difficult, but I remained hopeful, slightly hopeful… if you had said to me, with your hand on the Bible Vanessa, do you think they would find you as their prince? Charming, I probably would have said no.’
Vanessa’s latest update on single life comes hot on the heels of the news that she will permanently take over Carol Vorderman’s Sunday slot on LBC.
Former Countdown star Carol, 63, said last month she would not continue her radio show after suffering ‘burnout’ from seven-day working weeks.
In a video on Instagram, she said she had a “tight feeling in my chest and was completely exhausted” but “after many scans and checks we know I have no underlying health issues at all.”

Vanessa joined LBC in May and presents a Saturday afternoon show where she provides opinions, analysis and in-depth analysis on what matters to the British public.
She said: ‘I can’t wait to listen to a weekend date. I look forward to delivering Britain’s biggest and liveliest conversation with my lovely LBC listeners every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.”
LBC editor-in-chief Tom Cheal said: “Vanessa has quickly made her mark on the LBC program since joining the channel in May.
‘She is a genuine, candid and incisive broadcaster who has proven incredibly popular with LBC listeners and knows what really matters to them, so we are delighted to announce her new Sunday show.’
