Van Jones reveals the moment Biden lost the debate with Trump as he admits ‘that was painful’ and urges Democrats to ‘consider a different course’

CNN arch-liberal Van Jones couldn’t hide his disappointment with Joe Biden for his weak, lethargic, “painful” performance during his debate with Donald Trump.

Jones, a former special adviser to Barack Obama, is constantly worried about the president.

In January, Jones said Biden should stay out of the spotlight if he wanted to win the upcoming election because he “doesn’t inspire confidence.”

Even last year, the left-wing commentator said that re-electing Biden would be like “giving Grandpa another six years of a stressful job.”

However, he appeared to have completely lost patience with the president after a performance that left his fellow Democrats in a state of panic.

According to Jones, Biden lost the debate in “the first three minutes,” when Biden appeared weak and hoarse on camera.

“That was painful. I love Joe Biden, I worked with Joe Biden, he did not do a good job at all, he did not do a good job at all,” he said, adding that Biden lost the debate in the first three minutes.

Biden froze in the first 12 minutes of the debate, sending Democrats into a panic about the state of their candidate. It was a terrible start for the 81-year-old president, who must convince voters he is physically and mentally fit for a second term.

Jones called the debate “the old man versus the con man” and tried, as he put it, to speak to his heart about a “good man, who loves his country, he’s doing his best.”

“He had a test tonight to restore the confidence of the country, of the grassroots, and he failed.”

Jones said there is now a belief among Democrats that they “want to see him consider taking a different course now” and claimed the party needed to “figure out a different path forward” in time for the convention in August.

“There is time for this party to figure out a different path forward, if he will let us, but that was not what we needed from Joe Biden and that is personally painful for many people,” he continued.

“It’s not just panic, it’s the pain of what we saw tonight.”

Jones has worked with Obama, but has also met with Trump during his presidency to discuss criminal justice initiatives.

It was a terrible start for the president, who must overcome voters’ concerns that he is too old for a second term.

For Joe Biden, the debate was an unmitigated disaster.

The 81-year-old sounded hoarse and repeatedly cleared his throat, slurring his words, stammering and apologizing repeatedly as he struggled to make himself understood at several points. He also reportedly has a cold.

In response to a question about Medicare, Biden produced a halting, bumbling moment that will likely be repeated throughout the campaign: “We made sure we could provide everyone who is eligible with what I was able to do with Covid, excuse me, everything we’re dealing with… look… I finally beat Medicare…” He trailed off.

Moderator Jake Tapper took the floor and thanked Donald Trump, then turned to him to let him speak.

Trump immediately hit back: “That’s right, he beat Medicare, he beat it to death. And he’s destroying Medicare.”

Another serious blunder came when he talked about the number of billionaires in America and the situation at the border.

Trump repeatedly managed to hit the 81-year-old back hard after repeated fumbles.

“I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said either,” the former president said at one point.

Biden struggled to make up ground after his shocking start.

He tried to hit Trump with the report that the former president called dead American soldiers “suckers and losers” and with his felony conviction in New York.

But Biden has been using these lines of attack for months, and Trump was ready again. He barely blinked as he hoped to directly count on Hunter Biden’s conviction and reiterated that he was merely the victim of a highly politicized prosecution.
