V-color’s new DDR5 RAM has been launched and it looks like an overclockers dream, it looks ridiculously fast and stable

V-color has announced the launch of a world first in the form of the new RGB DDR5 O CUDIMM system memory.

The CUDIMM RAM sticks (which stands for Clocked Unbuffered DIMM, as opposed to standard DIMMs (Dual In-line Memory Modules) for PCs, and we’ll get to the difference later) come in 32GB (2 x 16GB) and 48GB (2 x 24GB) packages with various speeds.

The DDR5 RAM will start at 6400MT/s transfer rate and go up to 9200MT/s (or more with overclocking, which is the idea with this memory). In short, the high-end flavors are very fast indeed.

As the name suggests, the V-color RAM features RGB lighting and looks sleek with or without the lighting on, as the RGB bar turns silver or gold when the lighting is off. It looks pretty smart, that’s for sure.

Additionally, V-color has employed a new, convenient heatsink design for improved cooling. The company tells us that the RAM runs about 2% to 5% cooler than the previous heatsink with this new, patented design.

V-color hasn’t given us any details on pricing yet.

Analysis: Clock Wisdom

So what is the big advantage of CUDIMMs over traditional DIMMS? The CUDIMM memory modules come with a clock driver on the memory stick itself, so the RAM is not dependent on the system clock. A clock directly on the RAM module leads to better stability and reliability, which becomes increasingly important as you push DDR5 RAM faster and faster.

And indeed, these V-color RAM sticks reach extremely high speeds, with the top SKUs, as mentioned, hitting 9200 MT/s (not quite as fast as the G.Skill DDR5 RAM kits we saw at Computex 2024, which hit 10,600 MT/s).

The improved cooling should really help overclockers push the boundaries, and this product could land a spot on our list of the best RAM modules – but when the price tag for this V-Color RAM is revealed, it will undoubtedly be very expensive.
