Utah resident shocked after capturing eerie close-up footage of flashing UFO: ‘I was blown away’
A Utah resident was shocked after seeing a multi-colored UFO flash in the night sky.
The unidentified Reddit user, known as Crux stew on the platform, uploaded a 50-second video of the May 2 sighting from their home in southern Utah.
The video showed a small orb in the sky that was rapidly changing color. When the resident zoomed in on the object, the light flashed between red, blue, green, and white within seconds and seemed to have an aura around it.
“I was blown away by what I saw,” the person wrote on the UFOs Reddit channel.
They also claimed that this video is just one of dozens of unknown phenomena that lit up the southern Utah sky that night.

“This is one of over a dozen similar UAPs I saw that night,” the Utah resident wrote, before adding that “similar sightings had been made by several people in this area.”
“The multicolored pulsating light was triangular throughout the video until it disappeared,” the user added. “No other lights were triangular when zoomed in.
“The triangular shape was not from a lens artifact or distortion. The light did not come from an airplane or satellite, and it was not stationary.”
“This is in the middle of the desert. There were over 15 of these objects within an hour,” they continued. “These were moving horizontally across the horizon at different speeds, much faster than aircraft at apparently comparable distances.”
While they haven’t revealed exactly where in southern Utah they live, the Beehive State is one of the best places to spot the unusual, according to research from the University of Utah.

The western part of the US, including Utah, has a lot of flat land and open skies, making it more likely that you will spot a UFO than in mountainous or densely populated areas.
In addition, Utah, Nevada and New Mexico have ties to UFO conspiracies from Area 51 in Nevada to the Skinwalker Ranch in Ballard, Utah, where UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena) have been recorded by secret government programs and the popular History Channel show The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch.
“People have gone outside and looked up,” said Richard Medina, an associate professor of geography at the University of Utah, in the study, which analyzed a 20-year period in the 21st century, from 2001 to 2020.
“The idea is that if you have the chance to see something, you are more likely to see unexplained phenomena in the sky.”

“There’s more technology in the air than ever before, so the question is, what are people actually seeing? It’s a tough question to answer, and it’s an important question because any uncertainty is a potential threat to national security,” he added.
Moab, Utah, is the number one spot in the state for UFO sightings. It also ranks 22nd in the U.S., according to Axios.
According to a report from Axios, nearly all Utah counties reported more UFO sightings per capita than the state average of 34.3 sightings per 100,000 residents between 2020 and 2023.
The Salt Lake Metro area had 47.1 attractions per 100,000 residents. Grand County had 340.9, while Wayne County had 315.
Despite the many alleged sightings in the US, most UFO reports appear to involve balloons, drones, “air junk” or military activity, Axios reports.
