Utah Karen learns fate after facing sexual battery charges for yanking down 19 year-old girl’s skirt in steakhouse after complaining it was so short

A Utah Karen was caught on camera confronting a 19-year-old girl about the size of her miniskirt after she pulled it down at a steakhouse.

Ida Lorenzo, 49, was charged with a class A misdemeanor count of sexual assault following the viral incident at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in St. George, but she settled out of court on July 30.

As part of the deal, Lorenzo, a former legal secretary in the state Attorney General’s Office, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of a Class B misdemeanor of “intentionally and knowingly touching another person.”[ing] the buttocks of another person under circumstances which she should have known would cause offence or alarm,’ according to ABC 4.

She will now be held without penalty for a year, as long as she abides by the terms of the agreement, which stipulates that she must have no contact with the victim and that she commit no new crimes.

After a year, the criminal case against her can be dropped.

But if she doesn’t abide by the terms of the agreement, a warrant could be issued for her arrest. Her guilty plea would be accepted and she could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail.

According to a report of the hearing obtained by Utah News Dispatch, The victim in the case supported the settlement.

Lorenzo was seen in a viral TikTok video pulling down the 19-year-old girl’s skirt and then showing off a badge while claiming, “I happen to work for the state.”

She told the alleged victim that if she saw her “buttocks sticking out” and her pubic hair again, she would call child protective services.

Meanwhile, the young victim’s friends are heard telling Lorenzo, “You can’t touch her,” and later accusing her of sexually abusing the victim.

The incident only came to the attention of authorities after Lorenzo himself reported it to police that same evening.

She told police the teen’s skirt was “pulled up above her vagina and ass,” exposing her pubic hair. ABC4 reported.

Lorenzo also reportedly stated that she pulled down her skirt because there were young children present and that restaurant staff did not intervene.

After footage of the incident was posted online, Lorenzo called 911 again, stating that a “threat had been made on her life” because she is a government employee, according to the police report seen by ABC.

She told police that she initially asked the young woman to pull down her skirt, but was ignored and that is why she behaved the way she did.

When asked why she felt it appropriate to touch the girl, Lorenzo reportedly replied that she was only touching her skirt.

But the teen had also contacted police after the incident to report that she had been “sexually assaulted in the lobby” of the St. George restaurant.

Bodycam footage shows her telling officers she felt “someone’s cold hands on her skin” before turning and coming face to face with her accuser.

The teen recalls initially thinking it was one of her friends having fun, and being stunned to see it was a middle-aged woman she didn’t recognize.

“Not even the physical aspect, but the mental,” she said of the lasting impact the ordeal has had. “I struggle so much with weight issues.”

Others who had filled out witness statements told police they had given a similar account of what had happened, leading to Lorenzo’s arrest the next day.

The teen added that the incident, which was captured by her friend CC Snow, left her feeling insecure about her body.

“I think it’s scandalous,” she says in the clip.

But when police later questioned and arrested Lorenzo, she defended her actions.

She told officers that she had initially asked the young woman to pull down her skirt, but was ignored and that was why she acted out on her own.

When asked why she felt it appropriate to touch the girl, Lorenzo reportedly replied that she was only touching her skirt.

An officer then told her that she was still “engaging in criminal behavior by touching the woman’s clothing, and that her behavior was inappropriate.”

The officer explained that touching someone’s private parts is against the law, even if it’s just clothing.

Still, the former government worker appeared shocked that she was arrested for the incident that was caught on camera, claiming she thought the teen was naked under her skirt.

“Are you going to arrest me?” she says in police bodycam footage, in which she reenacts how she “innocently” pulls the girl’s skirt.

“I should have called the police then. I should have reported it,” she adds, in footage filmed April 22 by the St. George Police Department.

“You would do what you had to do, but it wouldn’t solve the problem,” she continues. “It probably would have taken you forever to get there.”

She claims her intervention received a standing ovation from those in attendance.

When subsequently asked why she took matters into her own hands, she replied: ‘[I was] ‘Protect the children by covering their intimate parts.’

The officer replies, “That’s right, but that’s not your job.”

After her arrest, Lorenzo was fired from the attorney general’s office.

She later blamed her dismissal on “circumstances beyond my control” in a GoFundMe to generate some form of income until she finds a new job.

“My career and only source of income is currently on indefinite hold. I urgently need to try to raise funds to support my two sons and myself during this difficult time,” Lorenzo wrote, pleading for sympathy.

“I am a single mother and have never asked for help until now. My son is a suicide survivor (bullied in high school) and I am a survivor of domestic violence. For the first time in my life I could use help myself. Any amount of your generosity would be so greatly appreciated.”
