A Utah CEO father was killed along with his daughter in a freak accident when a bulldozer fell from a tow truck directly onto their SUV, crushing them.
Richard David Hendrickson died along with his daughter Sally while traveling through Ogden Canyon, in eastern Weber County, Utah.
A tow truck pulling a bulldozer was coming from the opposite direction on the narrow two-lane road when the machine tipped over from behind, hitting the SUV the cars were riding in directly.
“As the truck rounded a curve, the bulldozer came loose from the tow truck,” explained Officer Heywood of the Utah Highway Patrol.

The bulldozer then fell on its side into the other lane, killing Hendrickson and his daughter.
The couple’s wife and two other children were injured in the accident, but their lives are not in danger.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic and sudden passing of our CEO and president, Richard David Hendrickson,” Lifetime Products, Hendrickson’s company, said in a statement Monday.
“This heartbreaking incident also took the life of one of his daughters, Sally,” the company said.
Another daughter was traveling abroad and was not in the family car.

Richard Hendrickson was the CEO of Lifetime Products in Utah
The Utah-based company that specializes in outdoor furniture and equipment reports ABC4.
“Richard started as a welder and, through his extraordinary talents and skills, rose through the ranks of the company to become president and CEO,” said Barry Mower, founder of Lifetime Products.
“He was one of my most trusted and cherished friends and will be greatly missed. Life will not be the same without him. My love and sincere sympathy go out to his dear family.”
After the tragic deaths, a petition was introduced to restrict the type of vehicles allowed to drive on the narrow road.

“Ogden Canyon, the narrow, two-lane road that connects Ogden Valley to the city of Ogden, is a lifeline for many citizens in Weber County, UT,” the petition reads.
“This shaky piece of infrastructure, surrounded on one side by the Ogden River and on the other by steep mountainsides, presents a nerve-wracking daily commute for families and young drivers traveling to school and other key destinations.”
The petition notes that in some places in the gorge the road has “little to no shoulder width,” making larger vehicles a “significant risk” to the safety of commuters.
