Utah boy, 16, charged with murder after ‘family fight’ led to explosive gun battle
A Utah boy has been charged as an adult after an alleged family dispute led to an explosive gun battle.
A juvenile male was arrested Sunday after officers responded to reports of a family dispute “in which a firearm was used,” the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect has been identified as Haegan Ray Sagers, 16, who has been charged with first-degree murder and discharge of a firearm, according to court documents obtained by CUTTV.
When authorities arrived at the home in the northwest region, they found the body of another deceased male minor.
According to court documents, a 14-year-old died from a gunshot wound to his upper body. No other details were provided.

Upon arrival, officers also located Sagers, who was later arrested and taken to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning, police said.
The 16-year-old was then taken to the Split Mountain Youth Detention Center in Vernal.
The sheriff’s office said there were “no other family members” [were] was in the home at the time of the incident.’
The department has not disclosed the relationship between Sager and the deceased minor.
The male victim has been identified by the initials MP, KSL reported.

It is unclear what caused the family feud and how the teenager obtained the firearm.
