The United States recorded an easy 4-0 victory over Argentina in their second group match of the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup.

Not only did the USWNT notch an easy win during the match, but they were also able to show off the quality of their depth after making an astonishing 10 changes from their 5-0 win over the Dominican Republic.

Starting right winger Jaedyn Shaw was the star of the evening, walking away from the match with a well-deserved brace.

Shaw’s first goal of the night came ten minutes in after a well-executed set piece resulted in her firing a shot into the bottom left corner.

Her second goal came just seven minutes later when she got her left foot on the end of a Rose Lavelle cross and fired the ball into the right corner of the net.

Lindsey Horan and Alex Morgan also scored in the easy victory on Friday evening

Just two minutes later in the 19th minute, Alex Morgan grabbed the Americans’ third goal of the night when she headed Casey Kruger’s cross into the back of the net past the keeper.

The Americans went into halftime with a 3-0 lead that looked like it would remain the final score for a long time until things got interesting just before the 80th minute.

Argentina’s Miriam Mayorga was sent off in the 75th after receiving her second yellow card of the match after a handball was deemed to have stopped the Americans’ chance.

Immediately afterwards, USA captain Lindsey Horan converted a penalty to extend the American lead to 4-0.

Horan almost scored a second goal later in the match from an incredible angle outside the penalty area that deflected in off the underside of the crossbar, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

The US will look to continue their dominant start to the tournament on Monday, February 26, when they take on arch-rivals Mexico.
