USMNT captain Tyler Adams is expected to return to action for Bournemouth between late February and early March, owner Bill Foley says.
Adams underwent two hamstring operations in 2023, the latest coming just weeks after he made his Bournemouth debut in October following a summer move from relegated Leeds United.
“Once he's fit, he's going to play that number six role,” Foley said of the American midfielder during an appearance on CBS Sports.
'I'm looking forward to him coming back. He's running now. He's not really training hard, but he's running again.
“And we think he'll be on the field in late February/early March, and I'm looking forward to it.”
USMNT's Tyler Adams is expected to return to Bournemouth in late February or early March
Bill Foley provided an update on Adams' status on Friday that will please USMNT fans
Adams has played exactly one game for Bournemouth since joining the team due to injury
Adams played just one game for Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup against Stoke City as a substitute.
Being out of action for almost a year has caused a domino effect for his clubs and country.
Had Adams been healthy, Leeds would have had a better chance of surviving the drop to the English Championship and staying in the Premier League.
Adams was the youngest captain in USMNT World Cup history in 2022, but has been absent from the team since the tournament's round of 16 departure to the Netherlands.
His favored defensive position in midfield is one of the weakest for the United States, making him one of the most important players for the Stars and Stripes when healthy.
Bournemouth are currently in twelfth place in the Premier League, ten points clear of the relegation zone.
For the USMNT, Adams staying healthy would greatly improve the Stars and Stripes' chances of winning this summer's Copa America.
