USMNT captain and AFC Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams announced that he and his girlfriend Sarah Schmidt are expecting a baby boy.

Adams, 24, and Schmidt posted a photo together on their Instagram accounts on Tuesday to share the news.

“Baby boy coming in January, beyond grateful,” the couple captioned a photo of Adams with his hands on Schmidt’s baby bump.

Adams’ current USMNT and former club teammates flooded the comments to congratulate him and Schmidt on the announcement.

“Completely grown up,” wrote Gio Reyna.

“Congratulations family,” Timothy Weah added.

The USMNT page also joined in by commenting on five blue heart emojis.

Adams and Schmidt have been dating for more than three years. The couple first made their relationship public on Instagram in June 2019.

Schmidt traveled with Adams to Qatar in 2022, where the midfielder captained the United States in the FIFA World Cup.

Adams joined AFC Bournemouth this summer but was injured after one appearance

Adams started his career as a standout with the New York Red Bulls before being scouted by European clubs.

After making 75 appearances for German side RB Leipzig between 2019 and 2022, Adams moved to Leeds United in England. Adams played in 24 games for Leeds before the club were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship.

During the summer, Adams signed for Bournemouth but suffered a hamstring injury after one appearance.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola stated that Adams will be out until at least February, meaning work will not conflict with the arrival of his baby.
