USMNT World Cup watch: Tyler Adams SENT for Leeds in the final game for Qatar as Norwich striker Josh Sargent scores against Zack Steffen – the goalkeeper was surprisingly dropped by Gregg Berhalter
Josh Sargent looks eager to go for the World Cup, scoring in Norwich’s last game before the tournament against his US compatriot Zack Steffen. Tyler Adams, meanwhile, was sent off for Leeds against Tottenham.
Midfielder Adams was shown a red card 86 minutes into the game for his second bookable challenge at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Sargent set Norwich up 1-0 against Middlesbrough with his ninth goal of the season, grabbed a through ball and fired it relentlessly past Steffen.
The goalkeeper, who was loaned out from Premier League champions Manchester City at Middlesbrough, was a surprising omission from Gregg Berhalter’s World Cup squad named this week.
Sargent is one of many English players who will join Berhalter’s team in Doha after this weekend’s games.

Elsewhere, Brendan Aaronson provided an assist for Leeds in the game at Tottenham, helping Crysencio Summerville open the scoring.
Aaronson started alongside compatriot Adams in Leeds midfield, where he took on England captain Harry Kane, as well as Eric Dier, who also made Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
And Kane warned Aaronson and Adams first hand of what could come after scoring Tottenham’s equalizer against Leeds.
