Use of AR, VR and AI tools in healthcare

Technology is a key catalyst for the transformation of healthcare.

Improving patient experiences and outcomes, reducing risk, and improving medical training and patient education are just some of the contributions of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality.

However, to effectively leverage technological advances in healthcare, we must respond to the real needs of patients, said Jess Rengstorf, director of US Healthcare Strategy at Endava, a London-based software and technology services company specializing in digital transformation and automation.

By applying VR, AR and AI to healthcare experiences, healthcare providers can monitor patients more continuously and comprehensively, intervene earlier when illness or conditions arise, and better personalize care, the spokesperson said.

But co-development is an important part of creating and implementing new technologies that achieve these higher goals.

“I think we need to involve multidisciplinary teams in the development of AI solutions to make sure that we meet the needs of everyone involved and that we really put patients at the center,” she explains in this week’s podcast.
