USC quarterback and Heisman fav Caleb Williams welcomes comparison to Patrick Mahomes

Even at the college level, people are already starting to compare Caleb Williams to NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes.

This comes just before the Heisman Trophy, awarded to the nation’s best college football player, is awarded on Saturday night.

Williams, the USC quarterback who moved to Los Angeles from Oklahoma under head coach Lincoln Riley, was compared to the Kansas City Chiefs star by quarterbacks coach Tom House in a podcast with the pundit. ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

On that podcast, House called Williams the “second coming” of Mahomes, and Williams was asked about those comments.

“I would say it’s great because everyone looks at Patrick and sees all the great things he can do.

“I’ve always said that even in high school… he’s obviously special, but I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do that he’s doing.”

‘So I think it’s really cool like I said. I had comparisons with a lot of other people, so having Patrick is great.

Williams is nominated for the award along with TCU quarterbacks Max Duggan, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Georgia’s Stetson Bennett.

Earlier this week, Williams received the Maxwell Award for college player of the year, in addition to the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and the AP Player of the Year award.

However, he did not win the Davey O’Brien Award given to the best quarterback in the country, and Duggan took home that award.
