USA 1-2 Serbia: Anthony Hudson’s USMNT lose their first game since Gregg Berhalter ‘blackmail’ controversy as two quick goals either side of halftime nullify Brandon Vazquez’s opener
The United States lost its first match since being knocked out of the World Cup by Qatar in the round of 16 and amid turmoil within US Soccer following the ‘blackmail’ scandal.
Interim coach Anthony Hudson took over his first game following the expiration of Gregg Berhalter’s contract and the bombshell revelation from Gio Reyna’s parents that the former head coach kicked his wife in 1991 and an investigation was launched.
Hudson named seven debutants in the starting eleven for the friendly against Serbia and Brandon Vázquez headed the opener in the 29th minute. Two quick goals from the visitors either side of halftime meant the US suffered defeat.
