American tourists have issued a sharp warning to others after receiving a $529 bill for a single plate of lobster pasta during a trip through southern France.
Twin sisters Cassidy and Leah Armbruster, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, regularly share their travel adventures on TikTok.
Recently, the duo, together with some student friends, decided to charter a yacht for a day in the harbor around the city of Èze.
To their horror, someone in their group ordered a plate of lobster pasta without checking the price, which turned out to be an incredibly expensive mistake.

A six-second TikTok captured the moment one of the friends appeared on deck with a plate of spaghetti and lobster meat, as the gang laughed excitedly – seemingly blissfully unaware of the cost of the party at the time.
“POV: Your friend orders lobster pasta on a boat and the bill is FIVE HUNDRED EURO (about $529),” the text overlay in the clip declared, with the caption: “You live and you learn.”
Other TikToks filmed during the excursion and then shared by the twins included one with the backstory: “POV: You and your college friends rent a yacht in France and spend a day pretending money is nothing.”
Another showed off a decadent-looking cheese platter that the friends also ate on the water.
According to the boat rental website ClickandBoat.com, renting a yacht for a day moored near the port of Èze can cost anywhere between $2,000 and $20,000.
Commentators were quick to call out the young women for being short-sighted when it came to the cost of sailing, especially the lobster pasta meal.
“Girl haggling,” one comment rebuked the most votes before the creators responded: “My friend paid before telling us the price, aahahha… lesson learned.”
“About $20 in ingredients,” another naysayer added.

Cassidy and Leah are not the first American tourists to be tempted into buying overpriced meals abroad.
Last year, newlyweds Alex and Lindsay Breen took to social media to publicize the horrible experience they endured at DK Oyster in Mykonos, where they were forced to pay more than 0 for a beer, a cocktail and a dozen oysters.
