DENVER — The eldest son of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert remained in a Colorado jail Wednesday after being arrested in connection with a recent string of car burglaries and property thefts.
Tyler Jay Boebert, 18, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and faces possible charges of criminal possession of identification documents involving multiple victims and conspiracy to commit a crime, the Rifle Police Department said in a statement. He also faces more than 15 additional misdemeanor and minor misdemeanor charges, the report said.
Other charges he is being held on include theft under $300, criminal possession of a financial device and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to jail records.
Police did not describe what Tyler Boebert is accused of. They said the investigation was ongoing and would not release any other information at this time.
No attorney was listed in the lawsuits as representing Tyler Boebert. He had to appear in court this afternoon.
Lauren Boebert, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, used to live in a town near Rifle, a town of about 10,000 in western Colorado, but switched districts in December to escape a tough re-election bid.
Earlier this month, she was granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband after accusing him of threatening to harm her and entering the family’s home without permission. It was the latest in a series of flare-ups between her and Jayson Boebert. In seeking the warrant, she cited family unrest as another reason for her move to Windsor in her new neighborhood.
