US prosecutors have called for criminal charges against Boeing in connection with a settlement over two fatal crashes.
Two accidents within six months involving the company’s 737 Max aircraft resulted in the deaths of 346 passengers.
An Indonesian Lion Air flight crashed in October 2018, killing 189 people. That was followed by a Syrian Airlines crash in March 2019 that killed 157 people.

Investigators found that faulty flight control software caused the fatal crashes, which resulted in all 737 Max planes being grounded for 20 months.
In 2021, Boeing agreed to pay a £2 billion settlement and prosecutors asked the court to drop criminal charges after three years if the company met certain criteria.
But last month the US Justice Department said Boeing had violated the terms of the deal.
The victims’ families have urged prosecutors to seek a record £14.6 billion fine against Boeing and bring criminal charges.
Prosecutors have recommended that the DoJ pursue charges. Boeing has previously denied violating the agreement.
