Wyndham Clark was congratulated by some of golf’s most popular fans, including Paige Spiranac, Pat McAfee and Skip Bayless, following his US Open win.

The American, 29, kept his nerve going into the final round on Sunday to win his first-ever major.

Newly hired ESPN analyst and former All-Pro NFL punter Pat McAfee tweeted an image of the TV screen he was watching showing Clark being hugged, writing in the caption, “Man… I’m so happy for Wyndham Clark. Hellll yeah brother.. what a story.. what a week.. WHAT A CHOMPION.’

Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless chimed in when he tweeted, “CONGRATULATIONS TO WYNDHAM CLARK FOR BEATING THE SUPERSTARS AT HOLLYWOOD, WINNING HIS FIRST MAJOR, THE US OPEN AT LOS ANGELES COUNTRY CLUB. CLUTCH CIP ON 17, CLUTCH LONG APPROACH PUTT ON 18. STOLE THE SHOW.’

Before Sunday’s major tournament win, Clark had never finished higher than 75th in any major event he had competed in.

Clark won the US Open and took home his first trophy in a major event on Sunday

Clark burst into tears after taking the title shot at the Los Angeles Country Club as he looked up at the sky thinking about his late mother Lise.

He lost his mother to breast cancer when he was just 19 years old and said he felt his “mother was watching over me today.”

The Denver, Colorado native also captivated many due to the story of his late mother who died when he was 19 years old and in college.

Golf’s social media sensation Spiranac revealed she played with Clark in Colorado as she praised him on Sunday.

“Wyndham Clark and I grew up playing junior golf together in Colorado. Everyone always said he had something special and we all knew he would make it. Now he’s a big winner! Very cool moment.

While the Denver Broncos tweeted, “Congratulations to the kid from Colorado, @Wyndham_Clark, on his win over @usopengolf!” along with a photo of Clark wearing a team jersey and hat while standing on the sidelines of an NFL game.

He also received a message from the 2021-2022 Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche, who tweeted, “Congratulations to Denver’s own Wyndham Clark on bringing another championship to the Mile High City!”

It’s been quite a year for Denver and the Nuggets also came out on top in the NBA Finals.

Another tweet from bar stool inventor Dave Portnoy said, “Good for Wyndham Clark. Held up a star-studded leaderboard all day long. Deserved it.’

Clark pocketed $3.6 million for winning one of the four major golf tournaments.
