World No. 6 Jannik Sinner of Italy paid tribute to his personal fan base after his third-round win against Stan Wawrinka at the US Open.

Sinner won the third round match 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, before then walking out to the group of supporters known as the Carota Boys.

The ‘Carota Boys’ were a group of five fans who wore carrot costumes in homage to Sinner’s red hair.

Not only did Sinner walk over to the five life-sized carrots to take a selfie, but he also selected them during his post-game interview before taking a selfie with his fan club.

‘It means a lot. They already left the stadium…” Sinner said before the Carota Boys went down the stairs to the court. “There they are, thank you very much for your support.”

The Italian selected the five fans dressed as carrots in honor of Sinner’s red hair

Sinner celebrated his four-set victory over Stan Wawrinka in a unique way at the US Open

“I haven’t met them in person yet, so it will be a great moment when I finally meet them.”

Sinner also applauded Wawrinka as he left the stadium. Wawrinka is 38 years old and has won 16 singles titles. The Swiss veteran also holds an official career record of 563-338.

The Carota Boys also took to social media to celebrate the occasion. The group posted a montage of their day in Flushing Meadows.

It showed them serenading Sinner as they made their way down the gangways, high-fiving other supporters as they chanted his name.

The fans also took carrots into the stadium before rushing to court to meet Italy’s post-match. They shook his hand and shouted ‘No 1!’
