US elections: Harris leads Trump in several battleground states, opinion polls show

US Vice President Kamala Harris has taken the lead over her Republican presidential rival Donald Trump in several key battleground states such as Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania, according to several polls released here.
Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has a slight lead over former President Trump in Michigan, according to the latest poll from UMass Lowell’s Center for Public Opinion and YouGov. Harris has a slight lead of 48 to 43 percent in the Great Lakes state against Trump, the report said.

“For a swing state, this margin is good news for the vice presidential campaign,” said Rodrigo Castro Cornejo, UMass Lowell assistant professor of political science and associate professor of the Center for Public Opinion.
If Trump wants to surpass this margin, he will have an uphill battle in the Great Lakes State. “The Trump campaign,” Castro Cornejo said, “has negative favor in Michigan that must be overcome if they want to remain competitive in the state.”
Harris is at 48 percent, compared to Trump’s 46 percent in Pennsylvania, according to UMass Lowell’s Center for Public Opinion.
“The presidential race remains very close in Pennsylvania, with the coming weeks being a pivotal moment for both campaigns,” Cornejo said.
“As can be expected in a highly competitive race with few undecided voters, get-out-the-vote strategies will become increasingly important to mobilize supporters and ensure they get to the polls on Election Day,” he said.
