Urgent warning issued for frozen burger patty lovers after horrific tragedy

A viral video is warning others to learn from the deadly mistake a man made when he tried to separate two frozen hamburgers.

Barry Griffiths, 57, died at his apartment in Wales, United Kingdom, after stabbing himself in the stomach while preparing a burger in July last year.

A few days later his body was found, fully clothed on his bed, with a trail of blood in the hallway, bathroom and bedroom.

An autopsy published this month found that Griffiths, who lost the use of an arm after suffering a stroke, died from a stab wound.

TikTok user @mr_DYK shared Griffiths’ story in a video that has been viewed more than two million times and has generated widespread sympathy.

“They assume old Barry wanted a burger for the day and he brought out those patties,” the TikTokker said.

‘And we all know that those burgers always stick together, even if there is paper in between.

‘You try to hit them on the side of your counter or something to get them apart, sometimes you have to take the knife to it. That’s what Barry did.

“He tried to take things apart and accidentally stabbed himself in the stomach with the knife.”

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Rees told the coroner that Griffiths was the result of an accident of his own making.

“The bottom drawer of the freezer was left open and pulled forward to allow access to the food,” Rees said.

‘On the kitchen counter, next to the fridge-freezer, were two raw hamburgers, a knife and a tea towel.

‘The wound to the abdomen would have been approximately the height of the work surface. My hypothesis at the time was that Mr Griffiths was attempting to separate frozen burgers using a knife.’

Concerned commenters expressed their condolences and offered advice to others to avoid a similar fate.

“That’s so sad. For safety’s sake, use a butter knife to separate the burgers,” someone said.

“If I want frozen meat, I either put it in the fridge overnight or use warm water from the sink to let it thaw for a while. NEVER had a problem. I can’t even imagine why you would try and force it,” said a second person.

“I thought this was an urban legend my parents told me,” said another.

“That’s some real Final Destination material,” said a fourth person.
