Urgent recall of sweet treat sold in TK Maxx due to allergy fears
Turkish delight products sold at TK Maxx and Home Sense have been urgently recalled fears they could be dangerous for people with severe dairy allergies.
Food safety watchdogs slapped a ‘do not eat’ warning on four batches of the sweet treat made by Sultans because they contained hidden traces of milk, which are not listed on the label.
The Turkish treat, manufactured by TJX Europe and sold for less than £3, is also available to buy online, but only batches sold at TK Maxx and Home Sense are affected by the warning.
This includes packs of 250 grams of Sultan’s Chocolate Covered Lemon Turkish Delight, Chocolate Covered Strawberry Turkish Delight and Chocolate Covered Pistachio Turkish Delight, as well as a 225 gram pack of Sultan’s Covered Pistachio Turkish Delight.
These have batch codes 760240, 760241, 760242 and 760246.
They all have an expiration date of September 25, 2026.
TJX Europe said: ‘If you have purchased the product and are allergic to milk, please stop using it immediately and return to a TK Maxx or Homesense store.
‘We are offering a full refund or replacement for all affected products.’

People who cannot consume milk are allergic to the proteins in cow’s milk or cannot digest the sugar in the product, also known as lactose intolerance.
Symptoms of milk allergy can range from a rash, itching and swelling on the skin to vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea that begins within minutes of eating or drinking products containing dairy.
However, those who suffer from a delayed cow’s milk allergy may not experience symptoms until two days after exposure.

Older children and adults who are allergic to cow’s milk usually have a more severe allergy.
